The 2022 KCSE candidates will be joining both the universities and colleges in September this year.
Most of the students will be happy after doing well in their exams and they are determined to achieve their dreams after graduating from university and colleges.
Life in university may not be favorable for some students, especially those joining the first year. Sometimes being broke is the order of the day. Many students sometimes starve to death because life becomes unbearable at times.
To overcome this challenge of being broke all the time, students are encouraged to apply for 3 government funding to support them as they learn.
Education funding starts at the level of the constituency where we have CDF. Students should not take this lightly as they may be awarded more than 10,000 after their application.
The second education fund is at the county level where students can be awarded with more than 15,000 once they apply. The third government education fund is HELB. It is most preferred by the students as it can give more than 60,000 awards. However, this amount can be repaid by the student after completing his studies.
Furthermore, if a student is lucky enough to receive all three funding, that amount will obviously exceed the fees paid at the university. A student is highly encouraged to use this money wisely, even to start some side hustle which will generate some income for him.
The first thought for a student is to take some cash and buy a good working laptop. This will help the student to do the assignments easily. On top of that, the laptop will help the student to do many money-making projects.
For example, a student can academically train themselves on online writing. This is a great and good undertaking which every student should think about. In a good month, a student can make over 30,000 Kenyan shillings. This is good cash that can help them settle their bills and have some remaining cash.
2. A student can also open a small kibanda and sell some groceries and fast moving food items like fries etc.
This would be a great undertaking provided that your college mates are your customers. This will see you earning a lot of income which will give you a boost.
There are many other money making projects that a student can venture into to gain financial independence. I will post them in the next article.

Best wishes to the 2022 KCSE aspirants and all other comrades who are trying hook and crook to make ends meet while in university.
