One student died and three were hospitalized after a toilet collapsed at Nyabondo High School in Kisumu’s Nyakach sub-county.
The incident happened around 4 pm yesterday.
The three rescued students were taken to Nyabondo Mission Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Former Kisumu County Executive Member (CEC) Vincent Kodera said the toilet collapsed along with four students and unfortunately lost one life and is currently being rescued from where he is trapped.
Police is already on the spot.
Kodera expressed his condolences to the school and the family of the lost student and offered peace and prayers for the institution.
He said now is not the time to lay the blame and he should ensure that the student is recovered.
“We have seen police officers here and we know that the matter will be investigated,” he said.
He said: “We want to assure the principal, the students, the entire school that we are with them in this difficult time.”
Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o offered condolences to the family, teachers and colleagues of the Nyabondo High School student who died.
He also wished speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
