The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Professor George Magoha, has been concerned for days after the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, KUPPET, threatened to launch a strike.
The union had informed the education ministry on national media that they would soon go on strike if the government did not fulfill their conditions.
According to Akello Misori, the union’s general secretary, the union was demanding that teachers be released with better security in areas that are prone to bandit attacks for the sake of their lives.
The government, in a presentation show, agreed to the view that teachers need to be better protected especially during the upcoming national examinations.
According to People Daily this morning, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers has called off the planned strike ahead of the start of the national exam.
Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, are going to start from next week across the country.
Success to all candidates
