The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced today that it will not register teachers who will train in subjects that are not in their current curriculum.
Applicants who wish to register with TSC are graduates from subjects which are not presently in the syllabus. Fresh teachers who have done Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/or Enhancement are not eligible despite being part of the guidelines for registration.
Those who have done PGDE with these courses are not eligible for registration as a teacher. These courses do not provide sufficient subject matter and therefore mastery of the material in the two teaching subjects is not sufficient as necessary.
However, the commission states that ‘Bachelor of Science or Arts degree, as well as Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and 2 teaching subjects are eligible for registration.
Below is the complete list of Bachelor of Science and Arts degree teaching courses which are banned by TSC.
