The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination at St Benedict’s Secondary School Kituli in Machakos was disrupted on Thursday after bees attacked classrooms where students were taking the national examination.
This forced the education authorities in the school to take a quick decision of shifting the students to nearby institutions to continue with the exams.
Kathiani Education Officer Veronica Kalungu said swarms of bees filled three classrooms where Form 4 students were about to appear for the exam on Thursday morning.
“The students were waiting to sit for the paper of Kiswahili Lugha and Insha when the rare bees attacked and refused to leave,” she said.
Police officers stayed behind to help decontaminate the area.
No student was injured in the attack.
