Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Teacher.
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Job Group: JG ‘F’ & ‘H’
Pay Scale: As per SRC Guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. classroom teaching;
2. Role modelling, guidance and mentoring, mentoring and motivation of learners;
3. Preparation of reports;
4. Ensuring the safety and security of the learners;
5. To assist in designing, organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for the learners;
6. To look after and nurture the emotional, aesthetic, spiritual, moral, social, monthly and physical development (holistic development) of children;
7. Providing opportunities for hands-on learning, exploration. Creativity, and the development of self-expression, discovery, choice making, self-control and motor-skills;
8. Enhance communication, pre-writing, pre-reading and number skills and experimentation.
9. To prepare and develop play/learning materials, action plans, lesson plans and daily schedule of activities, children’s work progress records, health records and other records.
Requirements for appointment:
1. Be a Kenyan citizen;
2. Holders of minimum grade D+ (plus) of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or ‘O’ level (for certificate holders) of KCE Division IV.
3. Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education or its equivalent (for certificate holders) awarded by KNEC / Ministry of Education;
4. Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education by KNEC/ Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent (For Diploma holders.
5. Registered by the Teachers Service Commission;
6. Be a certificate holder in computer applications;
7. Certificate of Good Conduct from the National Police Service;
8. Obtain a valid medical report from a recognized government health facility.
Note: Serving ECDE teachers in public ECDE centers and KCSE Grade D- (minus) and a certificate in ECDE from Ministry of Education or KNEC and registered by Teachers Service Commission and serving for a period of three (3) years considered can go.
