TSC employed teachers have every reason to smile after the Teachers Service Commission’s fresh disclosures regarding salary hikes and arrears of six job groups of teachers after Parliament approved the Budget for 2022/2023 in June this year.
Earlier this week, employers of teachers indicated that teachers serving under grades B5, C1, C2, C3 and D5 would not receive a pay hike due to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2017 -2021, which did not catch them.
The following details in a document seen by this author, TSC also disclosed that teachers in the above grade having reached their maximum pay marks, / pay bar will not be eligible for a pay increase this year.
A part of the document seen read “Grades B5, C1, C2, C3 and D5 have reached the maximum pay points provided in banding by the completion of the cycle for CBA 2017 – 2021.”
The other finer part of the document, however, indicated that teachers in grades C4, C5, D1, D2, D3 and D4 who are yet to achieve the maximum pay marks awarded in pay banding will get a pay hike.
The commission further states that it will extend the pay points for these grades with effect from 1st July 2020.
The best part is that the commission will pay the teachers their increment along with the arrears from the date they received the maximum pay point till January 2022.
“The arrears will be processed by July 2022 when the funds become available,” the commission’s boss said.
