Candidates who are currently taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam will start enrolling in universities in June.
Simon Nabukwesi, principal secretary of university education and research, said the government would ensure that the exams are graded as soon as possible to facilitate university placements.
“We have already engaged the teachers who will mark the exam and asked them to report at the marking centres. The preparations are going well and we urge the teachers to be just towards their candidates,” Nabukwesi said.
He spoke while supervising the distribution of exam materials at Kaptembwo in Nakuru West Sub-county on Thursday.
The Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will start placing candidates in the institutions as soon as the KCSE result is released.
“Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will start placing candidates in institutions as soon as the KCSE results are released. There will be no waste of time. “Candidates will be selected to join universities in early June. Those joining colleges and vocational institutions will do so in September.”
He urged all the stakeholders to ensure the integrity of the examination.
“It is not right for us to give wrong results to the candidates. It may affect them in future as well. Let us do our due diligence to ensure everything goes well,” Nabukwesi said.
PS advised the candidates not to indulge in any kind of fraud as they may end up on the wrong side of the law.
He urged them to focus on clearing their exams so that they can easily transition to colleges and universities.
“Completion of secondary education marks the beginning of another journey. Secondary school is not enough. Please get higher education to secure your future and contribute better in nation building,” said PS.
