More than 700 ECDE teachers have been placed on permanent terms after the Nakuru County government recently announced vacancies for ECDE jobs.
Francis Mwangi, a member of the Nakuru County Executive Committee that oversees education, said teachers would be deployed to all 55 wards.
Mr Mwangi claimed that the county had educated ECDE teachers on a competency-based course (CBC) while talking to the press in his office about the current ECDE status of the county.
In his statement, he noted that “the county has trained all ECDE teachers at CBC to strengthen their understanding of the new curriculum,” adding that they have also been informed about Covid-19 to protect themselves and their students.
He also said the county has upgraded ECD infrastructure by creating 350 classrooms throughout the county as well as two ECDEC centers in Muslim and Mlimani primary schools in Naishava sub-county.
“We want traditional ECDE centers in all our sub-counties.” “We will eventually distribute centers in all sub-counties,” Mwangi said.
