The Teachers Service Commission on 28th July 2022 declared 5,000 teaching vacancies to support the government policy on 100 percent transition of learners from primary to secondary schools and to address the existing teacher shortage.
The Teachers Service Commission also advertised 8,230 vacancies to replace teachers exiting service through natural attrition.
Of the advertised vacancies 6,539 posts for primary schools and 1,691 posts for secondary schools.
The teachers recruited will serve on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service
*Eligibility*
To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following basic requirements:
i) Be a Kenyan citizen;
ii) Must be a holder of a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools and a minimum of a diploma in education in the case of secondary schools;
iii) Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission.
Currently Many unemployed graduate teachers are busy making applications for the few advertised slots to beat the Thursday, 7th July 2022 deadline.
After making applications the next step will be to attend scheduled interviews, Before attending the interview sessions its prudent to have a good mastery of the 2 teaching subjects, a good track record in co-curricular activities will make one stand a better chance of securing the competitive vacancies.
Applicants should also ensure they have the following important documents before attending the interviews.

1). Applicants’ National Identity Card (ID), both original and photocopy.
2). Two clear, passport-size photographs
3). Academic papers/certificates for college, Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and testimonials (photocopy and originals).
4). original and photocopy of your official academic.
5). Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) Registration Certificate (original and photocopy). If not accessible, you can submit proof that the registration procedure has begun.
6). Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN certificate.
7). A bank plate for your active bank account.
8). A duly filled out pay point form. You can obtain this at the bank.
9). GP 69 Medical Examination Form should be filled out by a qualified government doctor at a public hospital.
10). original and a copy of your National Hospital Insurance Fund, NHIF card.
11). Both the Secondary and Primary School Leaving Certificates
12). Co-curricular Activities Certificates. This is important in the event of breaking a tie.
