The administration of the University of Nairobi(UoN) is set to effect the new fees structure amidst tough economic times. The move to increase led to protest by the continuing UoN students terming it as unacceptable and wrong.
Therefore all students joining UoN should prepare themselves in advance for higher fee charges for the 2021/2022 academic year.
According to Prof Julius Ogeng’o, the UoN Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs the new fee structure will only apply for all the self-sponsored first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2021/2022 academic year.
The DVC cleared the air that the new feed structure is not going to affect the continuing students who are in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth years.
UoN vice-chancellor, Prof Stephen Kiama also said that the university senate noted that KUCCPS placed more students that is 6407 first students which surpass the capacity of the institution.
In a virtual address to the UoN community on admission and orientation of first-year students, professor Kiama further said that the Senate agreed to put appropriate measures in place to ensure that the instruction accommodates all the placed students into the respective programs of their choices.
The new students are expected to report on 20th September 2021 and lectures shall commence on 4th October 2021 after all the orientation programs.
