Teachers who were recruited in July this year may be in luck as Commission sources indicated that they could only place a few in their area.

 

 

 

Appointment letters are already available for many districts including Kiambu, Kericho, Kwale, Siaya, Tana River and Kilifi and some teachers will be sent next week.

 

 

 

Local officials say substitute teachers will have more work to do.

 

 

 

All teachers recruited in July must be posted to their new stations in September.

 

 

 

 

 

However, some teachers may have to wait longer as the commission plans to place some in January 2023.

 

 

According to the TSC recruitment roadmap, successful teachers must be posted to their new duty stations in early September this year.

 

 

 

Job forms filled by successful TSC recruits show that some teachers will have to wait until January next year.

 

 

 

 

 

The council is pressing to end the segregation policy of 2017. Educators say the policy is destroying families and pushing them into poverty.

 

 

 

 

President-elect Dr William Ruto has said that if he forms a government, he will end the policy of sacking teachers. Those who will be delocalized will be paid, he said.

 

 

 

Ruto said he would scrap the segregation policy by the TSC and replace it with a program that would recognize teachers as a national resource.

The board has announced 5,000 vacancies to fill and 8,230 vacancies to replace teachers who have retired through natural beauty.

 

 

 

Also, TSC has created 844 permanent posts for schools in the north. Affirmative action has provided jobs for teachers in the region.

 

 

 

However, last week TSC refused to select the recruitment of teachers in Wajir district.

 

 

 

 

TSC district manager James Ogongo said the number of locals involved in the recruitment process was small.

 

 

 

This, said Ogongo, despite the fact that the KPK has re-advertised the post for 325 P1 teachers to fill the vacancies of teachers who are leaving in 2020 due to insecurity in the area.

 

 

 

Among those who applied were 325 teachers for primary schools, only 39 applied for secondary schools.

 

 

 

 

 

Out of 325 primary school applicants, only four are local teachers from the district and 321 are non-local.
