A family in Bomet has been thrown into mourning after a form three boy commits suicide. The 17-year-old form three boy hanged himself at night outside on a tree in their compound.
According to the boy’s aunt, he returned from school claiming to have been sent to collect some documents and pay for items in school. “I gave him Ksh250 and told him to return to school as the issue of documentation was sorted out, but he said he would stay the night and return the next day”, the boy’s aunt narrated.
At night, the aunt and other family members were woken up by screams and on inspection, they found the boy has committed suicide. His body was hanging from a rope on a tree in the compound.
On contacting the school, the principal denied having sent the form three boy away from school to the said documents.
“We called the school, the principal said the boy was not away to collect documents,” the aunt narrated.
Another relative reported that nobody was aware of any underlying issues that might led to the ugly incident.
“Whenever he was facing a problem, he would tell us. We were surprised to see him back home.” said the relative.
