Starting this month Teacher service commission will not release teachers on Transfer until early next year as reported today.
Kuppet officials have asked the Teachers Service Commission to pause or postpone the transfer of teachers begging this month.
The union urged the Commission to pause issuing release or transfer letters to teachers because from now to the time of examination the time is limited yet the schools are preparing their candidates for national examinations.
Mr. Lewis Nyakweba, executive secretary Kuppet Nyamira branch, who led his fellow colleagues to receive their new County Director Catherine Mwendwa, said they were not wholly opposed to the routine transfers.
“We are not against transfers but we ask TSC to effect them at the right time after putting into consideration the welfare of the affected parties,” he said.
The Unionist in the same breath asked teachers to uphold teaching ethics so as to avoid conflict with stakeholders and the employer.
“Teaching is a noble profession that requires a lot of discipline as teachers are role models in the society,” he said.
Mr. Nyakweba further assured the new officer of teachers’ cooperation.
During the handing over ceremony attended by education officers and teacher Union officials, Mr. Koros thanked the people of Nyamira for the warm hospitality he had enjoyed that created a conducive working atmosphere.
The officer thanked the teachers for their devotion to the holistic moulding of the child and asked them to continue with the same spirit.
However, he warned his successor to be wary of rampant child abuse cases and teenage pregnancies in the county.
On her part, Mrs. Mwendwa said she had been working with parents and teachers harmoniously in Murang’a and expected the trend to continue in the new environment.
Mrs Catherine promised Teachers to deliver professional services to teachers as per the guidelines set by the employer without compromise.
She asked for cooperation from all education stakeholders from the region as she takes over from her precedator Mr Koros Wilson.
