After a ten-year wait, The county government of Uasin Gishu has now hired 1,287 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers on permanent and pensionable conditions.
Back from 2013, ECDE teachers have worked as temporary employees in 653 centers instructing at least 26,000 pre-primary students.
As per to Governor Jonathan Bii, the goal of hiring the teachers on long-term contracts is to inspire them and advance high-quality early childhood education.
Following the appointment, the governor announced that the basic monthly salary for ECDE teachers had increased from Ksh. 13,000 to Ksh. 30,000 for diploma holders and Ksh. 51,000 for graduates.
