The 2022 academic year will be the shortest and most demanding in the nation’s history. When deadlines are examined in more detail, it becomes clear that many stakeholders are competing for time and curriculum.
*Below is a breakdown of the 2022/2023 academic calendar:*
Term 2 2022 started on 11th July and ended on 16th September 2022 after 10 weeks of study and learning. Midterm break was scheduled from August 11 to August 14, 2022 (3 days).
*Important information*
In Term 2, the mid-term recess from August 4 to August 14 was pushed back by one week to allow for the general election on August 9, 2022.
Term 3 opened on 26/09/2022 and will end on 25/11/2022 with a 2 month break. There are no midterms for Term 3.
*During the trial*
KCPE 2022 exam will start on 28/11/2022 and will end on 1/12/2022.
The KCSE 2022 exam starts from December 1, 2022 to December 23, 2022.
*2023 School Academic Calendar*
The study period in Kenya will be extended again until 2023. KCPE and KCSE national examinations will be held in November 2023 as usual.
The 2023 academic year begins on January 23, 2023 and ends on November 3, 2023.
Term 1 2023 begins on 23 January 2023 and closes 13 weeks later on 21/04/2023. Average break is defined as a period of 3 days from 26/2/2023. This term includes a 2-week holiday from April 22 to May 7.
Term 2 continues from May 8 to August 11, 2023 and for 13 weeks.
After that, students will have a 2-week holiday from August 12 to August 27, 2023.
Term 3 of 2023 begins on August 28 and ends 10 weeks later on 03/11/2023.
