Viral journalist Liz Jackson has described the circumstances that led Foreign Secretary Alfred Mutua to give out his personal phone number at State House.
In an interview on Sunday, November 13, Liz SPM Buzz revealed that she was the one who asked her contact in a short-term relationship.
According to her, the CS did not speak not only to the President but also to other journalists after the joint press briefing by President William Ruto and his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa.
“I took this opportunity to ask if we could have an exclusive interview, and he agreed and gave me his phone number,” she said.
A young journalist among the veterans said he looked back when Mutua’s reporter asked the question because one of the members laughed when he asked the question.
“I have second thoughts about the appropriateness of my question because I asked about music and art, CS is a filmmaker. That’s why he can refuse,” he said.
Liz admitted that she was disappointed but a slight nod from the CS encouraged her to continue, and President Ruto chose to answer her question first.
The 23-year-old journalist took plaudits for a light-hearted moment when he joked about President Ramaphosa speaking only in Swahili on Friday.
“There is an exchange program between Kenya and South Africa to learn the Swahili language, and what plans have been made to facilitate SA art, culture and entertainment exchange between the two countries?” He took a picture.
Liz, who has been working in the media industry for nine months, says she always strives to maintain a professional relationship with her guests.
