Mr Peter Magiri, the Director of Education for Mombasa County, has been transferred to Nyeri County in the Central Region.
According to reliable sources, Magiri will start a new job as the deputy regional director of education in the Central Region.
Speaking from his office in Nyeri town recently, Magiri said he served as the District Director of Education in Mombasa County for two years.
The previous Makueni District Director of Education, Mr Gachuki, took over from Magiri.
The outgoing Mombasa County Director of Education has asked for the full cooperation of all education stakeholders and citizens of the county to give his successor the support he needs to discharge his duties more efficiently and effectively.
In various reports, some school principals have been transferred as part of the latest changes. Just one day after students of Friends Bulupi Secondary School in Malava Sub County protested at the school authorities against the dismissal of the school principal, which they attributed to the board chairman, new developments have come to light.
According to the documents available to us, the Director voluntarily applied for transfer from TSC.
TSC confirmed that it had received and responded to Mr Ongaka’s transfer request letter this month.
Based on the commission’s decision, he was to be transferred to St. Michael’s Emakhwa in Kakamega District.
In addition, he was instructed in a letter from the TSC Regional Director responsible for Western to hand over the school to Mr. Martin Waswa, the new principal from St. Thomas Nanderema Boys in Busia.
She further directed the outgoing director to replace Emoi Peter Etyang, who was also informed of the changes by the commission.
In addition, the parents of the students warmly welcomed the appointment of David Mbaka as the new principal of Magena Boys High School in Kisii District.
Parents said the principal came at a good time as the school’s academic standards have been declining.
Zachary Rabago, who was transferred to Mwongori High School in Nyamira County, will replace Mbaka.
