Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has released the latest entry requirements for certificate, diploma and higher diploma courses.
For those who wish to enroll at KMTC, they must have at least a C- in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) and a C- in cluster subjects in order to proceed with the certificate programme.
To continue in the diploma program under KMTC, every willing applicant must obtain a minimum grade of C plain and above in cluster subjects.
Individuals also have the option to upgrade KMTC courses after qualifying in the relevant area.
Enrollment in a Higher Diploma requires one to successfully complete a Diploma course in accordance with the standards set out below.
*1. To enroll in the KMTC higher diploma course: duration and prerequisites*
The individual must have at least two years of professional experience and a basic diploma in the relevant fields.
Under this program, the duration of this upgrade training program is one year.
*2. The KMTC Diploma Course and its prerequisites are decisive criteria for admission;*
Applicants must have a KCSE average grade of C (or equivalent).
In addition, all applicants must also complete an acceptable combination of other subjects which include English, Kiswahili, Biology and other sciences.
Must also have a C in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or other physical sciences.
The diploma course curriculum only requires three years of training compared to the three and a half years required for community nurses.
*3. KMTC entry requirements and amount of time required to complete the certificate upgrade.*
Individuals who wish to have the required grade in the required fields, which requires at least two years of experience.
The course takes two years to complete.
One must have a cumulative grade of C-minus or higher along with the correct combination of other subjects.
This course lasts two and a half years.
