A student at a school in Bomet attacked his colleague with a panga in a fight over a suspected love affair. The event took place at a secondary school in Bomet.
The form four student armed himself with a panga and attacked his Schoolmate. The form three girl suffered serious head injuries and was hospitalized in Longisa. Police are currently on the scene and investigating the incident.
Bomet East Police Chief Joseph Chesire confirmed the incident and said the attacker fled after the incident and was being sought by the police.
He said the attacker was heard arguing with the colleague before drawing a panga and stabbing her four times.
Chesire said the incident happened in a classroom where the student had arrived earlier than usual.
Chesire said the attacker asked the victim to explain why every time he called her, someone else answered the calls.
“He confronted the student, asking why someone else was answering the calls,” Cheshire said. The school is a day school and the two usually communicate when they are not in school.
Chesire said the police were deployed to bring back the attacker.
He said the girl was undergoing an operation at Longisa Hospital.
“We have been informed that she is in a stable condition and undergoing surgery,” Chesire said.
A panga with blood was found at the crime scene.
