The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has been challenged by the government to come out clearly and set exact dates for the confirmation of Junior Secondary School (JSS) trainee teachers on permanent and Pensionable terms.
According to the chairman of the National Assembly and Appropriations Committee and MP for Kiharu, Ndindi Nyoro, during a prayer and motivational speech in Aldai constituency in Nandi, the government has already allocated funds for the purpose.
Ndindi announced that a total of Ksh 18.7 billion is now available for the employment of 46,000 JSS teachers.
According to the president of the committee, it is time for the TSC to clarify the confirmation dates and put an end to the apparent behavior of changing the confirmation dates. Nyoro asked the TSC to announce the official communication on when to confirm the JSS trainee teachers on permanent and Pensionable terms.
He said that this is important because it will help teachers to know and budget for the date.
Nyoro also focused on the issue of higher education funding, as the leaders called on the government to review the model they say is disadvantageous to needy students.
