The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Thursday responded to concerns over the inaccessibility of the teacher recruitment portal, clarifying that the problem was due to technical difficulties.
The TSC issued the clarification after teachers raised concerns about being excluded from the recruitment process.
Many candidates took to social media to express their frustration, with some speculating that the portal malfunction was a deliberate move to prevent some people from applying.
TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia explained that efforts have been made to resolve the issue, asking candidates to be patient during the restoration process. The commission apologized for the inconvenience and assured potential applicants that it was working diligently to restore the portal.
“We regret to inform you that we are currently experiencing technical issues affecting the Faculty Recruitment Portal. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and ask for your patience while we work diligently to restore the portal as soon as possible,” said TSC .
The deadline for submitting applications is fast approaching and many fear that they will miss this opportunity due to the inaccessibility of the portal.
Candidates shared their experiences online, with one saying he had been unable to log in since yesterday, despite the looming Monday deadline. Another user asked how the Commission could advertise recruitment online when the website was down.
The technical glitch came just two days after the TSC announced a large-scale recruitment drive.
The commission had announced 46,000 teaching posts in primary, junior secondary and high schools, all on a permanent and pensionable basis.
TSC had outlined the available positions as follows:
6000 teaching posts in primary schools
39,550 Junior secondary teaching posts
450 secondary teaching posts
In the recruitment notice, TSC instructed interested and qualified candidates to submit their applications online through its website, either at www.tsc.go.ke under the ‘Careers’ section or at teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
