According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), candidates will get marks based on the mark sheet.
In cases where the candidates have the same grades, the selection committee will apply the criteria described in the teacher recruitment guidelines to decide between the candidates.
In cases where candidates are tied in the ranking process, the following criteria will be used to determine who will be selected.
*Time since graduation* – Applicants who have waited longer since graduation will be given priority.
*Strength of academic and professional qualifications* – The academic and professional credentials presented by applicants will be assessed for their quality.
If there is still a tie in points based on the PTE/DPTE Improvement Certificate, the general marks of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent will be considered.
*Job preferences*
The following categories of candidates will be prioritized for selection:
*Candidates without previous employment* – Preference will be given to those who have not been employed by the Commission on a permanent and Pensionable basis.
*Local candidates* – Preference will also be given to candidates from the same subcounty or county as the job posting. After verification of academic, professional and other relevant documents, the sub-county selection committee will take the following actions:
Prepare a sub-county merit list.
Submit the compiled merit lists to TSC District Directors who will then consolidate them into a District Merit List for further verification at headquarters.
*Note*: Applicants with hearing or speech disabilities will be allowed to work with a sign language interpreter during the process.
*Applicant verification process*
The selection committee will assess each candidate during the recruitment process to confirm whether they meet the requirements specified by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in their announcement.
*Consequences of providing misleading information*
If an applicant submits false information, any completed employment application form or offer of employment made on the basis of such information will be immediately revoked.
This highlights the importance of accuracy and honesty throughout the application process.
