The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 20,000 intern teacher posts in schools to support the implementation of the Competency Based curriculum.
Interested and qualified candidates should submit their application online through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke under “Careers” or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke by midnight on 4 November 2024.
To be eligible for recruitment, an applicant must meet the following minimum requirements:
Be a Kenyan citizen;
Have at least a degree in education with a minimum grade average of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two subjects at KCSE or its equivalent. Must be a teacher registered with the Teachers Service Commission.

b. Qualified and trained teachers in technical teaching areas/subjects with TSC registration numbers are encouraged to apply.
Manual applications will not be considered.
The instructions of the Commission for the recruitment of teachers in training for the financial year 2024/2025 are implemented.
Being unemployed and having no history of teaching service to the Commission for disciplinary reasons;
Applicants must submit original academic and professional certificates.
Successful candidates will be required to have personal accident insurance to cover personal risks during the internship period.
Selection of candidates will be strictly based on merit and number of vacancies per county.
Successful applicants will not have completed more than one internship offer.
Successful candidates will be assigned to any junior secondary school in the county where they interviewed or in any part of the country where the position is vacant.
Successful applicants to Junior secondary schools will be expected to learn various learning areas in the junior secondary curriculum.

During verification, candidates will be required to submit the following:
A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print from the TSC online portal as proof of registration as a teacher;
A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) charter (if applicable);
A copy of the national identity card (ID) or passport;
Two (2) passport size color photographs;
A copy of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card;
A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
The Teacher Internship Program is a one (1) year program designed to equip and maintain the skills of people entering the teaching service.
The program is aimed at registered unemployed teachers who will be assigned to educational institutions where their teaching experience will be enriched by mentoring, training and exposure to practical teaching experience.
*DURATION OF PRACTICE*
The internship period will last twelve (12) months.

This is not a paid engagement. However, trainees attached to Junior secondary schools are entitled to a monthly stipend of Kshs 20,000. Compensation will be paid subject to statutory deductions, as the case may be.
