Teachers employer in Kenya Teachers Service (TSC) has hinted on the category of teachers who will be teaching in junior secondary staring next year.

The above announcement effectively brings to an end a protracted debate on the same Junior secondary will comprise grades 7,8 and 9.
TSC had earlier hinted on the possibility of having primary school teachers handle that learners in the above mentioned grades.Most teachers in this category have advanced their academic qualifications extensively and have been expecting promotions for long.
With most of them holding degree,diploma and even masters degrees,this raised their hopes of being absorbed as junior secondary instructors.
These teachers are legible to handle junior secondary classes.
1.Those with a Diploma and degree holders in special needs education (SNE)
2.Those with Degree and diploma holders in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE)
3. Those with Diploma in Education holders (Secondary option)
4.Those woth a Bachelors Degree in Education (B.Ed)(Secondary option) but lacking a C+ in KCSE or C+ in the two teaching subjects.
Follow a report titled “Status Report on Teacher Preparedness for Competence Based Curriculum Implementation”presented to the parliamentary committee on education said it will deploy the p1 holders who hold diplomas in education.

Post-graduate Diplomas,Masters holders and Doctors on philosophy holders will also teach in junior secondary schools starting 2023.
This commission was also put to task to explain its readiness in handling the new curriculum owing to the fact that there will be a double transition of learner’s to secondary school come the new year.
Upto recently,teachers employer deployed primary school teachers with degree holders to secondary schools across the country.
In a preparedness strategy,the commission said that 60,000 secondary school teachers will be trained by April next year in readiness for the CBC rollout.
