Detectives have nabbed a boda boda rider who abducted and raped a foreign national before abandoning her in a forest this morning.
According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), suspect Protas Onsongo was seized by DCI agents on Saturday afternoon as he tried to flee the city to evade arrest following his brutal act.
“In an unfortunate incident reported at Ongata Rongai Police Station this morning, the young woman shed tears as a boda boda rider forced herself on her before dropping her into the dense Ololulua forest in Ngong, Kajiado County.” part of the report reads.
It is reported that at around 4:30am, the woman left Club 1824 in the company of two other friends, a popular joint along Langata Road, after a night of fun. At the parking lot, three foreigners welcomed three motorbikes to drop them off at a hotel in the CBD where they had reserved their rooms.
But as they entered the Langata road leading to the city centre, the victim’s motorbike, which was the last to leave the parking lot, suddenly turned around and headed towards Bomas of Kenya.
The victim realized that all was not well when the Ongata Rongai road was characterized by a lot of vegetation. She tried to sound the alarm, but her efforts were in vain, as the bike headed precariously towards Ololulua, but as they joined Langata Road towards the city center, the victim’s motorcycle which was the last to leave the parking lot , took a sudden turn and headed towards Bomas of Kenya direction.

“A team of detectives drawn from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and the DCI Nairobi Regional Command were immediately mobilized and deployed to assist their Ongata Rongai counterparts in a search for the suspect. Earlier, cybercrime detectives had uncovered the rapist’s identity using digital forensics and it took only a few minutes for him to be arrested. DCI said
Through a well-coordinated operation that involved the National Transport and Security Authority, (NTSA), the suspect was intercepted at Ngong around 3 pm as he attempted to flee the city.
“Meanwhile, experts from the Scene of Crime visited the spot and collected vital evidence related to the incident. Once charged, experts will also extract his DNA samples for a fullproof case against him. Detectives revealed.
The victim was taken to a medical facility in Ongata Rongai, where necessary tests and medical procedures were performed.
The incident comes barely a month after another victim was sexually assaulted by a mob of boda boda riders on Wangari Mathai Road.
Detectives are currently investigating whether the boda boda complied with the most recent requirements and under which SACCO the bike was registered.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation thanked the well wisher who took the victim to the police station, where efforts were immediately launched to nab the suspect.
