A first year university student has been stabbed to death by her boyfriend just two weeks after joining the higher learning institution.
The student who was identified as Getrude Jepkoech reported to Laikipia University, the main campus to pursue her degree course two weeks ago. It is too unfortunate for the family of the late Getrude for the death that has come too soon even before she started her degree program.
Getrude met her death after a man identified as Ezra stabbed her to death because of what was reported as a disagreement between the two.
It is alleged that Ezra, a bodaboda rider, the man who stabbed Getrude was her roommate’s boyfriend. He used a knife to stab Getrude.
It was reported that earlier on a different occasion Ezra had travelled from Nakuru to Nyahururu to visit his girlfriend, but later on, the visit ended with a disagreement. Ezra left disappointed after what had happened.
Yesterday morning, he came back and killed Getrude and stabbed himself in the university hostel.
Ezra who did not die on the spot was beaten mercilessly by the angry bob leaving in an awful state. The man in his critical condition was rushed to Nyahururu hospital for medical attention.
The body of the deceased was immediately taken to Nyahururu hospital.
This is a very painful story to the parents and the nation at large. May her body rest in peace.
Willy Ochieng the student leader in Laikipia University main campus informed the mass that such an incident has never been reported before in the institution. He further reported that crime happened when other students were on with the end of semester examinations.
All Kenyans both youths and elderly are urged to solve issues bringing disagreement amicably.
