All the School reopening dates were previously changed by Cabinet Secretary Under Ministry of Education professor George Magoha from Thursday, August 11 to Monday, August 15, 2022.
According to Magoha’s announcement to newsrooms dated Wednesday, August 10, the Ministry’s earlier communication on the reopening of Basic Education institutions had superseded by the revised dates.
New changes, according to Cs. Magoha, had been made to create room for the completion of ongoing ballot tallying.
The government decided to postpone the reopening of ALL basic education institutions with effect from Monday, 15 August 2022, until Thursday, 18 August 2022 due to the delay in the aforementioned current process.
The above aforementioned circumstance has sparked worries that a protracted school closure will result in a delay in the coverage of the curriculum for classes that will be sitting the national examinations for 2022 in November and December.
The above situation has raised concern that a prolonged shutdown of schools will cause syllabus coverage to be delayed for classes taking 2022 national exams in November and December.
Cs. Magoha has apologized for the inconvenience occasioned by these changes and ask for indulgence, as they work through ensuring the safety and comfort of learners through this period.
