The Teachers Service Commission, (TSC) has sent out an official communication today that is targeted at all unemployed teachers, and all the applicants for the various slots, that had in their earlier adverts been put up on notice and opened for those wishing to fill them.
In what appears as new tough rules that will in turn play key role in whoever gets to be hired, the communication touches on the four areas which the commission wants each and every applicant to watch out for keenly. First, on an issue to do with certificates.
Every applicant will be forced to show original educational certificates and identification one, without fail.
Secondly, On qualifications, the job seekers must have studied the subjects taught in their secondary schools.

Upon invitation for interview, applicants will be expected to appear with originals and clear copies of the following documents:

5 Diploma/ Degree Certificate
6 TSC Certificate of Registration
7 TSC internship evidence
8 Sworn affidavit
9 Primary Leaving Certificate

Thirdly, on the issue of the identification those whose names don’t match in documents to liase out.Must produce a sworn Affidavit where names appearing on the submitted documents differ.
Lastly, the commission makes another hint on the interviews that will be conducted.The date, venue and time of the interview should be displayed on notice boards at the County, Sub-Counties, Zonal and Institutional offices.
Heads of Institutions should communicate to all shortlisted applicants through SMS (Short Message Service) at least seven (7) days before the actual date of interview. This provision MUST be strictly observed to ensure that all applicants are notified of the date of the interview, venue and time
All their selection panel will be set up in accordance to the rules set out by the TSC. The changes and adjustments, have been made barely days and hours after some leaders made to be involved in the process.

All applicants, irrespective of gender, disability, ethnicity or Home County should be given equal opportunity. However, in case of a tie, consideration will be given on the following aspects in their order of priority:
i) Applicant (s) with disability(ies);
ii) Service as a teacher intern;
iii) Preference to applicants who had not been previously employed by the Commission;
iv) Preference to applicants who graduated earlier;
v) If the applicants tie at the aggregate grade, the teaching practice grades should be used
