A total of 73 teachers have been deregistered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), effectively barring them from serving in any capacity as tutors.
As per to Dr.Nancy Macharia, the head of the TSC, the teachers are prohibited from teaching in any educational institution in the nation under the TSC Act (2012).
These teachers’ names were posted with various case numbers by the Commission, suggesting that they were accused of a variety of indiscipline-related offenses.
TSC seeks to publish the names of instructors who have been struck from the Register of Teachers in accordance with section 30 of the TSC Act (2012). A portion of the statement said, “In addition, these teachers are prohibited by law from teaching in any institution of higher learning.
TSC Act states that anyone who hires an unregistered instructor is subject to a fine of at least Ksh100,000 or a period of imprisonment of at most two years, or both.
In an effort to ensure efficient service delivery, TSC has recently cracked down on dishonest teachers.The Commission had also deregistered 43 teachers for lack of discipline in October 2021. Additionally, 52 teachers were sacked by TSC in May 2021 due to indiscipline issues, and in November 2020, more than 50 teachers had their names removed from the Register of Teachers.
