Presently many businessmen in a town have been lost by an explosion in a gas store.
Three hotels were burnt to ashes and properties of unknown value were destroyed in the fire that broke out around 3 pm.
Many shops were also badly burnt. The fire is believed to have started inside the gas terminus at one of their stalls and quickly spread to other parts of the market.
Fire fighters had not reached the spot till the writing of the news but the fire was spreading to other stalls.
Residents can be seen trying to douse the fire using available resources, but their efforts proved to be in vain.
The incident happened a few days later in Mahiumahiu after a similar incident involving LPG gas cylinders. Many cars were burnt and people’s property destroyed. Now Kenyans have expressed concern about the way this gas cylinder is exploding.
A similar incident had come to light in the old city of Mombasa a few weeks ago and five people lost their lives. So, it is high time that the concerned authorities should come up with a permanent solution.
