Teachers Service Commission has started the process of publishing the list of teachers teaching in Junior Secondary from next year.
Lists have been sent to county commissioners prior to their posting letters to the affected teachers. The link at the end provides the complete list.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has announced that teachers handling upcoming junior high school classes will undergo 10 months of fresh training.
This follows the introduction of junior high school level education consisting of Grade 7 and Grade 8 under the new competency-based curriculum (CBC).
CS Magoha said during a visit to Kapsbet Girls High School that the 10-month training would take place between the months of February and December.
Magoha directed the contractors constructing the new classrooms to complete them within the time limit provided to allow the national examinations to be conducted without any disruption. This, before March 7, 2022.
“We are targeting to build 6,400 CBC classes during the first phase, which we will complete on that schedule, and the second phase soon after we complete the examinations to be held in the first week of May,” Magoha said on Sunday. must begin.”
He also revealed that three national examinations for Grade 6, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) are ready for administration.
“For grade 6, everything is already there. Books have been printed and distributed, teachers have been trained and all other necessary materials are ready,” he said.
The government had released Ksh. 8 billion to the Ministry of Education through the Treasury to help build 10,000 classrooms in secondary schools to ease the transition to the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) programme.
The program seeks to address classroom shortages in public secondary schools by allowing CBC Grade 6 learners to move smoothly to junior secondary in January 2023.
This comes at a time when TSC intends to hire 5,000 teachers on a permanent basis at the end of the first term of 2022. According to TSC sources, the commission is in a hurry to make recruitment ahead of the general elections, which are due soon. August.
