HELB has released Ksh1.56 billion to support students and trainees in various institutions across Kenya, covering both tuition fees and living expenses.
This move was initiated in response to President William Ruto’s directive to accelerate financial aid distribution, as confirmed by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migosi.
A total of 65,126 students from different institutions are set to receive financial support, bringing much-needed relief. The allocation includes 31,263 trainees from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and 33,863 university students.
HELB notified the recipients through official communication channels and advised them to check their portals for confirmation.
So far, the government has provided Ksh32.7 billion in financial aid for the 2024/2025 fiscal year. This amount has benefited 195,522 TVET trainees and 390,612 university students, ensuring they can continue with their education without disruption.
The CS reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining financial assistance to students in higher learning institutions.
The recent disbursement is expected to provide stability for students relying on HELB loans.
