The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has announced new promotion interview dates. This follows the previous cancellation of the interview scheduled for 26th to 30th May 2022.
Interviews could not be held on earlier scheduled dates as most of the teachers were engaged in marking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The TSC postponed the interview due to the intervention of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET).
“Under the circumstances, we request the commission to immediately cancel the interview scheduled for this month and hold it in the same July or any convenient date after marking the KCSE exam.” Read the letter of demand from KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Missouri to the Commission.
In July 2021, the Commission started the final phase of teacher promotion for the financial year 2021/2022. A calendar of activity for the interview was prepared with the last set of interviews scheduled for 26/6/202 to 30/6/2022.
Although the education calendar in the country was disrupted as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, the scheduled interviews contradicted the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national exam markings.
TSC wants to give incentives to all diploma holders before the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) expires in July this YEAR.
