Latest set standards state that every student must have at least a C- on their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) in cluster courses in order to enroll in KMTC to pursue a certificate programme.
Also all the willing applicants must have obtained a minimum grade of C Plain in cluster subjects in order to participate in diploma programs.
Note that a certificate in the pertinent discipline that is considered necessary to upgrade kmtc courses.
For one to be considered for Higher Diploma programs, he/she must have successfully completed a Diploma course in compliance with the standards outlined below.
*1. KMTC duration of higher diploma courses and their prerequisites. *
An individual with a basic diploma in the relevant disciplines and at least 2 years of professional experience.
This training course lasts for the entire year.

One must have met the acceptable combination of other disciplines, including English, Kiswahili, biology, and other biological sciences, as well as mathematics, chemistry, physics, and other physical sciences, are required of applicants in addition to a mean KCSE grade of C (or equivalent).
Just unlike the three and a half years needed for community health nursing, this program requires only three years of training.

An individual must have a degree in the required subjects as well as at least 2 years of professional experience.
Unlike the community health nursing, which requires 18 months of training, this takes two years.
In addition to the appropriate combination of other subjects, a cumulative grade of C-minus or higher is necessary.
It takes two and a half years to finish, the specified length of instruction is two years.
