Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued the timetable for Grade Six and Class Eight national examinations
Under Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidates,the rehearsals will be held on Friday, November 25 with examinations beginning Monday, November 28.
The Knec Chief Executive Officer David Njengere said all schools have until September 9 to download and administer examinations under the Competency-Based Curriculum after the council made available assessment materials on its portal.
Once the learners sit the examinations, the schools will have one week to upload their scores to the portal.
All the Grade Six learners have already done their projects and practicals, which are part of the national assessment.
Home Science question evaluated the students’ understanding of sewing, while the Art and Craft question asked them to make a marionette. In Science and Technology, pupils had to create a model of the circulatory system, while in Music, they had to perform a folk song of their choice.
Learners in physical education had to crawl, swim, skip a rope, and catch a ball with both hands.
Note that a total of 13 core subjects, including Kiswahili, English, mathematics, home science, agriculture, science, and technology, as well as the creative arts (art, craft, and music), moral and life skills, and physical and health education, will be examined in the summative exams for Grade 6.
The Other subjects include social studies with a foreign language option (citizenship, geography, and history) (French, German, Chinese and Arabic).
Every school is required to upload the projects and practical work on the Knec portal by September 16.
Note also that ive-subject summative national test and the annual school-based assessment (SBA), which is conducted in upper primary schools, will be used to determine results.
The SBA Examinations will account for 60% of students’ final grades, which will be distributed across grades 4, 5, and 6, plus 40% for the summative report.
Candidates in Grade Six will take the Kenya Primary School Education exam at the end of the academic year.
Come November 28, Learners will take the KCPE’s Mathematics exam in the morning, followed by English Language and English Composition in the afternoon.
Students will take exams in Science, Kiswahili Lugha, and Kiswahili Insha on Tuesday, November 29. On Wednesday, there will be final tests in social studies and religious studies.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates will begin their exams on Friday, December 2, with the English Language paper, followed by Chemistry Paper 1.
Also Learners will take Mathematics Paper 1 and English Paper 2 on Monday, December 5. (Comprehension, Literary Appreciation & Grammar).
In the following day,the students will take Chemistry Paper 2 and English Paper 3 (Creative Composition and Essays based on Set Texts).
