The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced that it will not register teachers who take training in subjects that are not currently in their curriculum.
The Commission, through its extant guidelines for registration of new teachers, stated, “Applicants for registration whose training is in subjects which are not presently in the curriculum, not eligible despite the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/or enhancement. ”
“Those who have done PGDE with these courses are not eligible for registration as a teacher. These courses do not provide adequate subject material and hence the mastery of the material in the two teaching subjects as essential is not sufficient,” reads the guideline.
However, Teachers Service Commission clarifies that holders of Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and Bachelor of Science or Arts degree with two teaching subjects are eligible for registration
