Kware murder suspect escapes police custody with 12 others.
Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the killing of at least 42 women whose bodies were dumped in Kware area of Embakasi, had escaped from Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi.
According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, the suspect escaped with 12 other Eritreans who were arrested at the police station for illegal immigration.
At about 5am on Tuesday, the officer in charge, Constable Gerald Mutuku, made routine visits to the cell with the canteen manager to serve breakfast to the suspects.
When they opened the cell door, they were shocked to find that the 13 suspects had escaped by cutting the cracked chest net. Khalusha was in a cell, waiting to be brought to court for a plea hearing.
The Sub-District Police Commander, Sub-District Criminal Investigation Officer (SCCIO) and Duty Officer Gigiri rushed to the scene and have since launched investigations to trace the suspects.
The suspect made headlines after he confessed to killing at least 42 women and dumping their bodies in Kware between 2022 and 2024. He claimed that his first victim was his wife, whom he strangled to death and first cut to dispose of his remains in landfill.
The suspect later claimed that the police had tortured him and forced him to confess to the murders.
