Seven teenagers have been arrested by police in Homa Bay County for their alleged involvement in a fire attack that occurred at Ober Boys Secondary School in Rachuonyo East Sub County on Monday morning.
The fire that destroyed a 167-dormitory capacity at the crack of morning is thought to have been started by students. One admitted to taking part in the fire incident.
All of the students who were utilizing the burned-out dorm were attending class for their morning studies when the fire started.
Students who were in class noticed smoke coming from the dormitories and called out in panic.
Before it could spread to adjacent structures, firefighters from the County Government of Homa Bay were able to put out the fire.
The dormitory’s belongings, however, had been reduced to ashes.
The seven kids who were detained, according to Homa Bay County Police commander Samson Ole Kinne, are thought to be responsible for the school fire.
One of the students, aForm 2 student confessed to taking part in the fire, according to Ole Kinne, who claims that the students were taken to the Ringa Police station for questioning.
Police are stepping up their investigation while the pupils are being held at Ringa Police Station.
Since every student was enrolled in class, there were no casualties reported during the fire incident.
