It is saddening to Report an incident where a form four student drowned while they were on a school trip in Kirinyaga County.
The student at Mugoiri Girls Secondary School in Muranga county with other students were in the company of the mother to the girl, teaching and non-teaching staff and the board members.
The annual trip for candidates in the school turned tragic after two students fell into the water and were rescued by a parent and teachers.
However, attempts to resuscitate one of them turned futile and she was rushed to Kerugoya Level 5 hospital.
Unfortunately, by the time they got her to the hospital the girl was pronounced dead, Susan Mundia the school principal said.
Madam principal said that it is in their culture that towars the end of the academic year the girls are taken for a trip to cool them off from the pressure before they sit for KCSE.
Mundia said the postmortem results revealed that she succumbed during drowning.
