On Tuesday,1st of November, an incident of fire outbreak destroyed a dormitory at Teremi High School in Bungoma county.
The emergency response team comprising of the firefighters arrived at the scene and battled to extinguish the blaze that consumed the entire structure.
The cause of this fire at the time of this publication had not been established.
As per to the eyewitnesses, the furnace was triggered by an electrical malfunction.
However, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Former students invited well-wishers to give funds for the construction of another dormitory through various channels.
On this same day, another fire fire broke out at Adu Blossom Day and Boarding School in Nyakach, Kisumu County, killing one student.
In another instance, a gang of intruders masquerading as herders invaded the Philadelphia Primary School and Agape Academy campuses along the River Malimalite in Kainuk, Turkana South sub-county, to graze the students’ animals forcibly.
According to Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai , the bandits shot a schoolboy in the left leg and a girl in the right arm to instill fear in the schools and surrounding community.
He stated that an ongoing security operation would be deemed serious if the livestock stolen in the September 24 attack in Namariat, Turkana East killed eight police officers, peace activist Mary Ekai Kanyaman, and Napeitom Senior Chief Gilbert Lomukuny was found.
The governor further said that armed bandits were openly roaming through Lomelo, Lorogon, Kapelbok, Kainuk, and Nakwamoru to frighten the already defenseless border residents who cannot access water sources.
