A 22-year-old student at Egerton University in Njoro, Nakuru County, has been arrested after confessing to killing her suspected girlfriend.
Charles Muli told his father and another friend that he was behind the murder of 21-year-old student Irene Mumbua.
Muli allegedly dumped Mumbua’s body in the Mutituni area of Machakos County, where it was discovered while decomposing, on Saturday, March 26.
After a second-year agricultural economics student confessed to killing him, Machakos County Police Commander Moss Ndiva alerted the institution’s security agents.
In return, he was arrested on Monday 28 March by the university’s security personnel while going to class.
Ndiva said the suspect had invited Mumbua to his house, which is located inside his father’s house, before committing the heinous act.
He allegedly stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife several times before Nakuru escaped.
