Residents of Chamasili village in Vihiga’s Sabatia sub-county are in shock after a 19-year-old man was hanged on a tree on charges of radio theft.
Collins Sambaya was caught by a suspect named Elvis Irime.
The security officer who reached the spot saw that the victim was still hanging on the tree.
According to a police report seen by Star, Collins Sambaya was caught by a suspect named Elvis Irime.
“The head of the Northern Izawa location, Evans Andesha, said on the phone that he had received a report that some men had hit a man with nails on a tree,” a police report said.
Security officials reached the spot and found the victim still hanging on the tree but the suspect disappeared to avoid arrest.
“Seeing the police coming to the scene, the assailant suspect (Elvis Irime) fled and is still on the run.” Adds police report.
The victim was successfully rescued and was taken to Mbale Referral Hospital in stable condition where he is undergoing treatment.
The incident attracted anger from Kenyans who took to social media to demand action.
