Six teachers of Itumbe Primary School in Kisii County have been arrested after a video of their students went viral.
The viral video is a video of a teacher pressuring students to pretend to have sex.
Moreover, teachers who see and enjoy them record videos of these students and share them on social media.
The video sparked outrage on local social media platforms and led to the arrest of the six teachers.
The suspects are Everline Moraa, Gladys Kenyaya, Angelica Joseph, Moraa Nyairo, Catherine Moraa and William Isoka.
Police traced the footage to Itumbe DOK Primary in Nyamache, Bobasi Constituency and arrested them on Wednesday.
The district police chief confirmed the arrest and said he is now consulting with education officials before filing charges against the suspects.
The Teachers’ phones have also been confiscated for forensic examination.
Teachers are highly regarded by the community to guide and role model students in all aspects of life. However, six teachers did not act accordingly. Instead of punishing the students, they cheered them on.
Some people on social media have suggested that Students are taking practical lessons which are unacceptable and should be condemned in the strongest terms.
