The first term of 2022 started on the 25th day of April. All schools in the country will have a three-day break in this long ten-week period between May 26 and May 29, 2022.
This is the second and last time that the school academic year is starting almost in the middle of the year as the corona virus epidemic has grounded school activities across the country.
The second term of 2022 will start on 11th June 2022. It is also a 10-week period and will have a 3-day break between 11th August and 14th August 2022. After that, all schools across Kenya will take a break for a week. Long leave on September 17, 2022.
The three terms of 2022, which is less than a week compared to its first two terms, will now begin on September 26, 2022. Note that this term will not be a half term break for cross all school.
In the same third term, all the national examinations for Standard Eight candidates (KCPE), Form Four students (KCSE) and Standard Six students (KPSEA) will be conducted.
To begin with, the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams will be held between November 28th and December 1st, 2022.
Second, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will be held between December 1st and December 23rd, 2022. The marking exercise will take place between 2nd January 2023 and 20th January 2023.
At present, the Board of Examiners (KNEC), Kenya Elementary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) is yet to set the dates.
The above KPSEA assessments are to replace KCPE under the new competency based curriculum.
KPSEA assessments will be used to see smooth transition from primary school to junior secondary school.
