TSC,Teachers Service Commission finally created two promotions for primary school deputy heads.
The two grades are as follows:
1. Deputy head teacher I (T-Scale 9) and
2.Deputy head teacher II (T-Scale 9) (T- Scale 10).
This is stated in Circular on Career Progression Guidelines.
Deputy Head Teacher II (T-Scale 9) is a promotional grade for institutional administrators in elementary schools, according to the circular.
Head Teacher will be reporting to the Deputy Head Teacher II.
He or she will be expected to have expertise of curriculum development and execution, as well as educational policies and programs. While the Deputy Head Teacher I (T-Scale 10) is a promotion grade for primary school institutional leaders. I will report to the Deputy Head Teacher.
In addition,the teacher will be expected to have expertise of curriculum development and execution, as well as educational policies and programs.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is expected to release 1,025 school principals whose two-year contracts are set to expire in July, according to the latest report.
These school heads will be discharged to allow for new recruiting, according to TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia.
Due to the stability of learning institutions, the Commission will keep a total of 569 school heads whose contracts have been extended until December 2022.
The Teachers Service Commision requires that a teacher meet the following criteria in order to be considered for appointment to the grade of Deputy Head Teacher II:
1. Must have served as Senior Teacher I T- Scale 8 for a minimum period of three (3)years; have satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal;
2. Must have have successfully undertaken the relevant TPD modules;
3. Must have a valid Teaching Certificate;
4. Must have able to demonstrate ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers;
5. Be able to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution; and
6. Be able to meet any other requirement the Commission may deem necessary.
