Primary schools are yet to receive Sh9.6 billion for more than 1.26 million students in Grade 7.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said primary schools are still calculating the data of enrolled students.
Machogu made the announcement on Monday when he attended the St. George’s Girls, Nairobi Form 1 admission day.
“We will send the money after we get the necessary information about who can enroll in the high school,” said Machogu.
Primary schools should receive Sh15,042 as capitation for each grade 7 student.
“Once we get the information we need, we will send the money to all the secondary schools.”
He reiterated that more than 30,000 teachers will report to various schools this week.
The board said 9,000 of these posts are for permanent high school teachers, 1,000 for primary teachers and 21,550 for intern teachers for secondary school.
Students who enter JSS will study 14 subjects of which 12 are compulsory.
English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Health Education, Technical and Pre-Career, Social Studies, Religious Education, Business, Agriculture, Life Skills, Physical Education/Sports.
Foreign languages (German, French and Mandarin) will be offered as additional subjects along with local languages.
Other optional subjects include performing/visual arts and computer science.
English, mathematics and social studies are allocated the most hours and there are five lessons per week
