After a lengthy wait, teachers who took part in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination will be paid their dues.
This came after Ronald Tonui, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Bomet Centra, asked in the National Assembly why the teachers had not yet been paid.
Prof George Magoha, the Education Cabinet Secretary, was also asked by the MP to clarify when the payments would be made.
Despite the fact that the deadline for paying instructors involved in the administration of the 2021 KCSE examinations has passed, KNEC is apparently planning to start paying early next week, before Magoha goes before MPs in Parliament to answer questions about the matter.
CS Magoha will appear before the departmental committee on education and research in two weeks to react to matters that will be highlighted.
The MP, who is also KUPPET’s assistant national treasurer, encouraged authorities in charge of the charges to conduct a review.
Teachers’ dues for invigilating and supervising the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams have been paid, with just a few primary school teachers protesting about not being paid despite being part in the marking process.
KNEC hired 242,406 teachers to supervise and grade national examinations in the previous academic year.
Teachers have been voicing their dissatisfaction with various social media platforms, but their concerns will be addressed in the coming days.
