Managers of a Limuru-based company have been arrested following a drama in which female employees were forced to strip at work.
The arrests came after employees filed a complaint that they were forced to strip.
The company’s top executives were arrested on two days ago. Police said the female employees were forced to take off their clothes by a manager who wanted to know who had thrown a sanitary pad into the wrong bin.
Police said the 3 arrested were a plant quality assurance manager, a human resources manager and a human resources assistant.
Police said they are being questioned and will appear in court tomorrow to face various charges.
Witnesses said several female employees were forced to strip on Monday after a used sanitary pad was found in the wrong waste bin.
Police said their investigation showed this was not the first time a senior manager had forced female employees to undress.
Senator Gloria Orwoba, who first disclosed the incident, said she received an emergency call about the incident on Monday evening.
The senator said she received a report of an incident that occurred at the Brown Cheese Company in Limuru.
The manager in charge of quality and standards is said to have paraded all the female employees and told them to strip so she could check who was menstruating so they could be punished for putting a pad in the wrong bin.
She added that despite her intervention, the matter escalated.
Gloria said it was unfortunate that the matter at Brownscheese Company in Limuru had escalated despite her intervention through her office.
The senator noted that all institutions should strive to implement the MHM policy in Kenya for the benefit of all stakeholders.
