A Kiambu man who killed his mother by throwing her into a well before taking his own life was now revealed to be in a cult that promoted polygamy and other bizarre practices.
Simon Kimani killed his mother in disagreement with his cultic beliefs.
Simon Kimani of Githunguri in Kiambu County killed his 75-year-old mother on Tuesday, September 19, over differences in the faith of a religious sect he had recently joined.
A report by Citizen TV said the 45-year-old man, also a dentist, argued with his mother over his sect’s practice of having two wives and female circumcision.
Kimani then threw his mother into a well who had warned him not to subscribe to the cult’s beliefs.
An investigation into the incident has since been launched.
